A52-year-old Carenage woman and three men were arrested Friday evening during several operations which police seized a firearm, ammunition and narcotics.
Police said the men are a 19-year-old from Maraval, a 26-year-old from Cocorite and a 43-year-old from Diego Martin.
In the first incident, Western Division Task Force (WDTF) police officers executed a search warrant at the woman’s home during which they allegedly found and seized a bag containing cocaine wrapped in a curtain in the bedroom.
The woman was immediately arrested.
As the WDTF officers were leaving the house, they spotted a man acting suspiciously outside the premises.
The police officers called out to the man who was then searched.
During the search, police allegedly found and seized three foil packets and one transparent plastic bag containing cocaine in the man’s front pocket.
He too was subsequently arrested.
In the second incident, the WDTF was patrolling the Upper Waterhole, Cocorite area, when they spotted a heavily-tinted car along Lady Hochoy Circular Road.
Police officers alighted from marked police vehicles and approached the driver and a search ensued. While searching the vehicle, the WDTF allegedly found one pistol in the center console.
Further checks revealed that the pistol was fitted with a magazine and had several rounds of ammunition with ‘TTR’ markings.
The officers seized the items and arrested the 26-year-old suspect in connection with the finds.
Meanwhile, a 19-year-old man was arrested near Hilltop Drive, Paramin, for possession of ammunition.
According to police reports, while on patrol, WDTF officers observed a vehicle on Cameron Road, when the front seat passenger allegedly looked in the direction of the oncoming marked police vehicle and slouched in his seat.
Another team of police officers in the area was alerted and later blocked the vehicle nearby with the occupants.
Police subsequently approached the vehicle and informed the suspect of their observations and he was searched.
The officers allegedly found, concealed in a white plastic bag, seven rounds of ammunition in the passenger’s front left pocket. He was arrested.
The exercises were coordinated by Acting Senior Superintendent, Western Division, Anthony Remy, with direct supervision by Inspector Joel Grant who was supported by Sgt Jack and Cpls Hunte, Edwards and PC Peters, Myers, Rogers, Roberts, Figueira, Peltier and WPC Primus.
