ANew Grant contractor was granted $20,000 bail when he appeared before a San Fernando Magistrate on Thursday, charged with
fraudulent conversion.
Magistrate Armina Deonarinesingh granted bail to 37-year-old Ryan Sonny and ordered that he reappear in court on October 6.
Background
A woman reported to police that between August 9 and August 11, she allegedly paid Sonny $6,000 to purchase materials to construct a septic tank and rubble drain at her home.
The works were supposed to be completed by August 20. However, the man failed to deliver on his promise or refund the money.
A report was made to the Fraud Squad and an investigation was launched.
The suspect’s home was searched on Wednesday and he was arrested and charged.
