Man Shot Dead

A man who detectives referred to as a person of interest in murder investigations was shot dead when he pointed a firearm at police officers on Thursday morning.
ADD News TT was reliably informed that on Thursday officers of the Port of Spain Task Force went to the Walcott Lane, Gonzales, home of Celestine Richards at around 9.15 am.
Police called from outside the premises and reported hearing a voice from inside.
They gained entry to the home through a door at the southern side of the home and on entering saw Richards alias Dutties lying on the bed.
He pointed a gun at the officers who then shot him.
The police officers took Richards to the Port of Spain general hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police seized a revolver in the bedroom and found a drum magazine containing several rounds of ammunition in a fig patch near the house.
Richards was sought by police in connection to the shooting death of taxi driver Ricardo Simon in Belmont earlier this month.
